Redwood Wand with Fire Agate

There is a spectacular – and very special – forest near Rotorua, called the Whakarewarewa Forest… which is filled with the most wonderful Redwood trees. It has a truly magickal stillness to it, and a sense that if you stay motionless long enough you might just find, out of the corner of your eye, that something unseen is watching you back.

These trees live an average of 600 years – and can live up to 2000 years old: there’s a lot of  wisdom can be accumulated in that lifetime…

I collected this particular Redwood branch during a wonderful walk in the Whakarewarewa Forest this winter – in fact, during the icy and spine-chilling Arctic Blast. It was sheltered and calm inside the forest, and the floor was carpeted with layer upon layer of deep soft and springy  leaves and needles. The whole place felt warm, safe and insulated and the air scented with that beautiful, organic fragrance of trees and soil.

The branch had fallen naturally from one of the trees and was lying upon the forest floor, waiting for me.

As you can see from the photos, the surface of the branch has been delicately munched by some local fauna, either before or after it fell, which has engraved the most beautiful, spectacular natural patterns on the wood.

The wonderful shapes and lines which have been carved into the wood by the wee beasties are absolutely delightful – and will serve as a permanent reminder of the wand’s natural origins and its relationship with the forest. To the same end, I have left on some of the bark in an area near the bottom, which is a lovely, rich mahogany colour and provides a striking contrast to the golden warmth of the rest of the branch.

I have gently sanded (by hand) the whole wand to a smooth and silky finish, before nourishing it with a mix of natural beeswax and oils to enhance and preseve the natural beauty of the wood.

As a little tribute to honour the creatures that helped create this wand with their fabulous carving abilities, I have set into the base a genuine Trilobite fossil. He is the fossilised remains of a little creature that was scuttling around about 350 million years ago -  something like the marine equivalent of a woodlouse.

To transmit and direct energy, the wand has been tipped with a six-sided obelisk of banded jasper, with wonderful shades of russet, brown and cream and set with a  single peridot-coloured CZ crystal. The embellishments on the wand have all been finished with an antiqued bronze effect – which combine to create a most impressive looking magickal tool.

The body of the wand has been set with two haematite crystals and a magnificent fire agate, which has spectacular depth of colour and glows alluringly in the light.

This wand is nicely weighty in the hand, which works well with its calming, earthy energies. When you hold this creation, you know that you are holding a true magickal weapon. In the same way that you can sense that the engine of a high-performance sportscar wants to go, this wand positively vibrates with an innate need to direct energy.

Your wand will come complete with a drawstring wand bag, to protect and store your unique creation when is not in use. My feeling is that you’ll probably want to keep it on display though…

The Redwood Fire Agate Wand is equally suited to either a man or a woman and would be a fabulous addition to your magickal tools. It is a one-off piece, created from treasures of nature that can never be repeated… once it is sold, it is gone forever…. so don’t miss out!
