Q: Could tell me the name of the clay you have used?
A: We hope you will understand we’re unable to give an answer to this one. It’s taken many years of research, trial and error to find the ideal material to use – so is something we would prefer to keep quiet about. All we can say is that it is a specialist artisan clay, which does not require heating in order to set it and which allows us to incorporate crystals, shells, wood and other materials into our creations.

Q: Do you fire your creations?
A: No, definitely not! The clay used does not require heat to set it hard. We believe that the use of heat would negatively impact both the appearance and the energetic properties of the wood and crystals which we use – and would be offensive and/or destructive to the spirits or beings which inhabit them.

Q: Can you advise me on caring for my purchase?
A: All of our wands come with their own wand bag, which can be used to store and protect them when they are not in use. Of couse, we understand if you would prefer to keep your creations on display… in which case, please be aware that sunlight can fade the colour from certain types of natural crystal – and that others can explode through thermal shock if allowed to get too warm: so we would advise keeping them out of direct sunlight.

You may like to treat your wooden magickal tools with a natural wood wax or oil from time to time to help preserve the beauty of the wood – just use a small dab on a soft cloth – but this isn’t strictly necessary.

To clean other items, please simply wipe gently with a soft, lint free cloth. Using cleaning agents or water is not advised.

Q: Do your creations have a guarantee?
A: We are confident in the quality of our products and in the workmanship. However, if something should happens to your creation you are most welcome to send it back for re-touching. Repairs will be carried out free of charge – excluding the cost of shipping and any breakage of crystals. We want you to be able to treasure your creation for a lifetime and are happy to ensure that you may continue to do so, even if the unthinkable happens.

Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes, absolutely. Please email us at mildred@mildredandmyrtle.co.nz with your enquiry.

Q: Do you offer secure, online payment facilities?
A: Yes. If you require shipping within New Zealand, we have ‘Buy Now’ PayPal buttons set up. These will take you to PayPal’s secure server, where you may purchase your chosen item safely online, using either your PayPal account, or credit/debit card.

If you require shipping Internationally, please contact us for the best shipping rates and we will arrange secure payment via PayPal with you.

Q: Can I commission a custom item?
A: Definitely! We love the challenge of creating unique items especially to suit people’s personal requirements and will try to accommodate you in every possible way. Please email us to have a chat about what you are thinking of – it costs nothing to ask!

Q: Can I choose/buy my own crystals to be made up into a creation?
A: We work very closely with crystals and so completely understand you wanting to choose your own. For a person that is also attuned to crystals, this can be a great way to go about it. It’ll ensure you have a personal connection to those stones and know for sure that they resonate with you. I’m very happy to work that way – it’s important to me that you end up with a magickal tool which really resonates with you and which you will love, enjoy and treasure.

Q: I’d like a piece made especially for me, but I’m not sure what to choose – can you help?
A: We are happy to select crystals and woods intuitively on your behalf, based on knowledge of your preferences and affilliations. If you have any particular correspondences or beings (deities, fey, angels, elementals etc) which you prefer to work with then let us know and so we can make suggestions as to how these could be incorporated into your design, if you wish. Also, any additional information, such as whether the wand is for generic magickal work, or for a specific purpose, such as healing: means that we can incorporate the appropriate intent into the piece as it is created.

Q: How much are custom pieces?
A: The cost is usually dependent upon the type of wood and crystals, as well as the amount of labour which has gone into the creation. We will agree costs with you in advance and nothing will happen until you are entirely comfortable with the process.
